Nakken

Dog · Female · 2-3 years

I'm Nakken. I'm about two to three years old, a Northern mix (Sheperd/Collie/Husky?), and until recently, my entire world revolved around my nine puppies. I raised all nine of them, did my very best to take care of them, and now that they're growing up, I'm ready to discover what it's like to have a life of my own.

I'm incredibly sweet and gentle, and I'm the kind of girl who seems to assume that everyone she meets has good intentions. I'm very submissive, quiet in the house, and I've had no accidents. I'm also good with kids and cats, which is pretty handy because I like everyone.

When I first came into rescue, my body needed a lot of time to recover. I had been nursing nine puppies while there wasn't always enough food to go around, and I was underweight and exhausted. Just when I thought things were finally getting easier, we discovered that I had pyometra, a serious and potentially life-threatening infection. I needed complicated emergency surgery, and thankfully, I made it through.

Since then, I've spent some time resting, eating well, and being spoiled at a cottage, and I'm happy to report that I've gained about 15 pounds and am now healthy, strong, and thriving. After everything I've been through, I'm so happy to say that I'm on the other side of it and feeling better than ever.

I've spent so much of my young life taking care of everyone else. Now I'm hoping someone will give me the chance to be cared for, too. I think I'm ready for a soft bed, a full bowl, a quiet home, and a person who will show me that being someone's dog can be pretty wonderful.

I'm a high-energy girl who loves everyone and becomes a total Velcro dog when you're around. I'll happily follow you from room to room and make sure you're never without a furry companion. I'm wonderful on leash and don't react to other dogs, and I'm perfectly capable of being left home alone without getting destructive. In fact, I've managed not to have a single accident in the house.

I do have one little bad habit: if I decide it's time for belly rubs, I can get a bit mouthy when I become overly excited about all the attention. I'm still learning that sometimes the best way to ask for affection is with a little more patience. I'm a work in progress, but I'm a very sweet one.

I'm Ready for My Forever Home

I'm now fully vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped, and I've made it through everything life has thrown at me. I'm healthy, happy, and finally ready to find the family I've been waiting for.

After spending so much of my life being a mom, I think it's about time I got to be someone's spoiled girl instead.
